Garmin eTrex GPS - A Real Winner

If you’ve had the misfortune of being lost, especially in the dark, and left ya trusty compass at home- which would be useless in the middle of the night as you cant ’see’ any real landmarks anyway, then cheer up. Technology to the rescue…again
I’ve had the pleasure to review the Garmin eTrex GPS, another nice addition to the Garmin range of personal navigation devices, no longer just for the yuppies but within everyones price range.

For those who are adventure seekers, the Garmin eTrex GPS is one of their smaller compact units that will accurately guide you to your destination and back home. Amazingly, the Garmin eTrex GPS which is indeed a small wonder gets the wonderful highlights of a 12 proportioned channel GPS receiver that can be placed into a small pouch that is about four by two inches wide. And as such, the Garmin eTrex GPS sits comfortably in your palm and is not as bulky feeling as some other Garmin’s reviewed.
Besides the Garmin eTrex GPS’s cute size, the receiver will continuously track your route and does this accurately by using up to 12 satellites to triangulate your position. The Garmin eTrex GPS also has a catchy design and conviniently has it’s buttons to the side for easy reach and seems to be common benefit with the Garmin GPS series recievers. My only grip is the LCD screen could be a little larger but that’s nit picking at it’s best.
Another feature which turns out to be a great benefit is that it’s a waterproof unit so if it’s accidentally immersion in water,or drops out of your pocket into the river, will still perform its operations. Great! With the Garmin eTrex GPS translucent yellow case it will not be likely to be misplaced and if this does happens you don’t need to worry because the Garmin eTrex GPS’s bright yellow case will help you find it so easy in any boat or backpack. It’ll stickout like a sore thumb in the night.
The Garmin eTrex GPS is definately a user friendly GPS able to store up to 500 user waypoints with accompanied graphical icons. This means you’ll never loose that favourite fishing/camping spot (unless you leave the Garmin eTrex GPS at home). The Garmin eTrex GPS can reverse back through your waypoints which is a great feature. The tracking log in the Garmin eTrex GPS unit will be viewed strung together on the map page of the Garmin eTrex GPS unit so you can definitely locate and find where you have been. And last but not least, the Garmin eTrex GPS has cool animated graphics and large easily viewable icons that will let you recognize your marked waypoints speedily and without hassles. Another thumbs up from this biased trekker and recommend it for sure.
